Ketsugo Goshin-Jutsu is a well rounded system of self-defense for the real world. It includes striking, locking, choking and throwing techniques.
Sensei Lowery used a blend of Okinawan Karate (Isshin Ryu), and Japanese Jiu jitsu for this simplistic yet effective self-defense system.
About the instructor
Sensei Christopher Lowery has trained diligently in the martial arts since Introduced to Isshin Ryu Karate by Dan Holloway in 1992. Since that time, he has been privileged to train with Randy Brown, Ronald Nick, Jeffrey Bryant , Michael Gibbs and Donn Schucker.
In 2010 after devoting a great deal of study time and actual hard physical training to the striking arts, Sensei was promoted to the rank of yondan (4th degree black belt) by Sensei Jeff Bryant.
As he progressed through the ranks of the striking arts, Sensei began to realize that something was missing. Although he had trained very hard and competed with some of the best fighters on the tournament circuit, he tired of the overly restrictive competition rules and limited technical skills allowed in the ring.
What was missing from his training was the real world, no rules practice that determines who survives in an actual life and death physical confrontation.
Sensei Lowery set about to remedy this situation by expanding his skills to include experience in the Japanese arts, which to a large degree utilized skills, techniques, and strategies that were completely absent in the striking arts.
Joint locks, strangle holds, takedowns, and groundwork – these are all important skills that not only are likely to be needed in a physical confrontation, but also train the individual to achieve a newfound sense of awareness with regard to his surrounding, his attacker, and his own martial skills.
It takes decades to acquire a high level of expertise in all martial endeavors, and it can be said of Sensei Lowery that he has done his time. He now prefers good old fashioned hard core, no frills, nor rules training. He will not limit himself to any one type of technique and now arms himself with all the skills that a warrior must possess to prevail in combat. He knows that if attacked, he is fully equipped for the battle, because he realizes he will not be fighting another sport martial artist for a trophy – this could be against an individual who wants to end his life!!!
Bottom line for Sensei Christopher Lowery – he is not interested in sport competitions, trophies, championships, etc. and has nothing to prove to anyone except himself.
